About Irish Community Care.........

Irish Community Care is a voluntary organisation which was founded in 1986 by members of the Manchester Irish Community. The organisation has evolved from its humble beginnings, based in St Lawrence’s Presbytery sharing the Church telephone, to its current position of 2 offices employing 7 staff and facilitating over 90 volunteers. A Management Committee, representative of Manchester's Irish Community, steer the development and finances of the organisation. Work takes place across the city of Manchester and surrounding districts as projects respond to a changing social, political and economic climate. Irish Community Care is funded by Dion (Irish Government), The Community Fund, Manchester Social Services, Irish Youth Foundation, Central Manchester Primary Care Trust, BBC Children In Need, Manchester Social Services, Department of Education and Science, and the Manchester Irish Community. Here we are able to see Irish Community Care's two offices; the above is our Head office which is situated at 289 Cheetham Hill rd, Cheetham Hill. The picture to the left is a picture of the Levenshulme office which is used for drop in and appointments; this office is located at 893 Stockport rd, Levenshulme. A great step forward in 2002 was the redevelopment of 893 Stockport rd, Levenshulme, which we signed a lease for in July 02. An eagle eyed Volunteer spotted the 'To Let' sign on the building and brought it to the attention of the Management Committee. Early in 2003 Irish Community Care held a very successful fund raising event and all proceeds were earmarked towards assisting the running costs of the office.

Irish Community Cares funders: Funded solely for staff salaries, we make no charge for our services. We rely heavily on fund raising and the generosity of the community for their time and donations, in order to continue the work we do.
